Fairn & Swanson Relocates

Fairn & Swanson, Inc. announces that it is relocating its corporate office and main warehouse and distribution facility.  Since its foundation in 1949, Fairn & Swanson has grown to be recognized as the largest duty free wholesaler and distributor on the West Coast of North America, and as one of the leaders in the American duty-free industry. After 20 years, Fairn & Swanson has outgrown their office space and has seized the opportunity to break out and renovate a new location; consolidating their three Northern California facilities under one roof. This move will maintain their strategic proximity to the San Francisco and Oakland Ports and ensure continued, cost effective supply to West Coast and Pacific Rim customers.

Fairn & Swanson is renovating the 105,000 sq. ft. former Del Monte warehouse at the edge of the Oakland Harbor. This building will include 10,000 sq. ft. of modern, corporate office space with the remaining space for their bonded and tax-paid warehouses. This new warehouse facility includes high dock truck access for straightforward movement in and out of the warehouse for all cargos, and features a direct service railway spur for additional cost savings of imported shipments. 

The transition to this new facility, will allow Fairn & Swanson to improve intra-company distribution to their satellite warehouse and their retail store chain, Baja Duty Free. Fairn & Swanson will continue to improve and expand existing services, which include distribution and sales of bonded and non-bonded merchandise for most major Duty Free suppliers. 

This modern facility will enhance their efficiency with new high-tech computer systems and high-speed data connections providing web based and EDI capability for customers and vendors along with increased computerized inventory controls and tracking systems. This will also expand their capacity for worldwide shipping via land, sea or air, with improved in-house freight forwarding and custom brokerage services. All of these enhancements will help Fairn & Swanson add value to their relationships with customers and vendors.
