Fairn & Swanson Strategically Positioned in San Ysidro

BAJA DUTY FREE, Fairn & Swanson’s retail division is the oldest, most experienced retailer on the southern border.  This experience and their exceptional customer service set them apart from their competitors.  Baja Duty Free’s original store opened in 1989.  With the addition of their new 10,000 sq. ft. store scheduled to open June 2002 at the Las Americas shopping center, and a new pedestrian store expected to open July 2002, Baja Duty Free will have the largest duty free retail presence in the San Diego/Tijuana region.

The San Diego/Tijuana border is the busiest border crossing in the world with in excess of 80 million crossings annually.  Approximately 5 million residents live in the San Diego/Tijuana area.  This population is projected to grow over 8 million in the next 20 years.  Cross border trade through the San Diego U.S./Mexico port of entry is valued at $14 billion annually.

Fairn & Swanson has strategically positioned their Baja Duty Free stores to accommodate the needs of the diverse customer base in the area.  The needs of business travelers, commuters, overseas tourists, and local U.S./Mexican shoppers can be fulfilled at any one of our locations. “With our new store additions along the San Diego/Tijuana border, Baja Duty Free will have the capability to satisfy our diverse customer needs,” states Baja Duty Free’s Retail Marketing Coordinator, Irene Rojas. “Baja’s 13 years of experience in this market gives us the ability and knowledge to serve this market.”

Baja Duty Free’s mission is to be the best duty free retail store by providing the best quality products and best customer service. These 3 locations will enable Baja Duty Free the capability to follow through with this mission and continue to achieve success.
